Cops and Kids Cornhole Competitions
- In partnership with Cobb County Police Department, we target apartment complexes that are underserved and have issues which require regular visits from officers
- We host events where we have a cookout for the residents, DJ and music, face painting for the little ones, and a Corn Hole competition between the cops and the kids
- We have our POPP student-athletes from participating schools compete against officers from the Police Athletic League
- We have found that when you compete with a rival in a positive environment, and get close enough to actually see the other, it’s much harder to hate them. These events are a win-win-win for the kids, the cops, and the community
Cops and Kids Mentoring Program
- In partnership with Cobb County Juvenile Court and Cobb County Police Department we pair kids under court supervision for felony charges with officers from the Police Athletic League in a mentoring relationship
- We utilize POPP curriculum to help officers better understand today’s youth, and for both sides to begin to see one another differently
- Officers commit to staying with the kids until they earn their diploma or GED
- POPP is bridging the gap between Cops and Kids
